Happy Pancake Birthday (to me)

Well, well, I am turning 46 today, and it seems like that it is gonna be the first birthday where I have to release my car from snow. but, I am always so so so happy on my birthday and the breakfast I had was worth while to take a picture to show it to you. The hubby made fresh pancakes for me and he presented them as a tower on the plate with the maple syrup dropping down…yummy! yes, the hubby knows what brings me in the good mood and I started my birthday with a stomach full of pancakes!

Valentine´s Day Miniature Cookie Etageres

Valentine’s week starts today with „crafty Monday“. You guessed it, this might be the first of many Valentine´s Day related posts that I am planning to do. Last week I have already finished these cute miniature cookie etageres but the things that I wanted to put on them were still missing.

I think it´s kind of boring if there are cookies on a cookie etagere. So I had to find something else that would also relate to the overall Valentine`s Day theme. I thought sweets would be nice but at first I did not knew where to find them. During a shopping weekend in London I accidentally went into a sweet store on Columbia Road which had exactly what I was looking for.

Season Closing Baked Apples

This is the weekend, where even I have to admit that the Christmas season has ended. However since we still got some new snow yesterday, it´s a good time to make some baked apples, for old times sake, of course, with a little ‚christmassy‘ rum flavored filling.

New Year’s Resolutions

When my husband took this photo of cookies in front of Grandma’s Pie shop all his good new year´s resolutions were gone. He thought he could stay away from sweets in Jan 2013.

Gingerbread House Party

Doing a gingerbread house is not the newest idea of course, but I am doing it every year on christmas with great fun. This year I had the (supposed to be!) glorious idea of baking a complete gingerbread village with many of tiny houses and deers and sweets around, without thinking how much efforts and time-consuming that would be.

Gingerbread Village

I had the idea of a village quite some weeks in my head already and was so eager of doing it. Well, no sooner said than done, I prepared double amount of gingerbread dough wednesday after work and stayed up until midnight, because I wanted the village to be finished before saturday eve, when I had some friends over for christmas dinner.

The difficult part was to fix the roof on top without slipping away but luckily for me the hubby came home just in time, to help me out here!

Well, after hours of baking and icing and decorating, ahhhh, you can see the results here! The village turned out really nice and cute and all my curses about the gliding roofs are forgotten so far!
