Das Motto für Weihnachten wird heute schon bekannt gegeben. Also mal ganz ehrlich: wenn es im Supermarkt schon Lebkuchen und Spekulatius zu kaufen gibt und ausserdem auch schon wieder die Adventskalender angeboten werden (hab mir gleich mal den von Playmobil reserviert mit den schicken Tieren und dem Weichnachtsmann drinne!), dann darf ich mir auch erlauben, das erste Christmas Bunting der Saison zu nähen! So seh ich das jedenfalls. Und deshalb hier das Motto für die kommenden Wochen: Christmas calories don’t count! Happy cake eating!

I know, the weekend where we take down the Christmas decoration will come eventually every year, but when it´s actually there this means a couple of thing. Worst of all, no denying, it means „Christmas is over“. I wish it could have lasted longer, but that´s how it is. The second thing is, we have to work more or less the entire weekend to take down the decorations and store them in the attic. On the pic you see just the stuff that was in the living room. I spare you the rest and motivate myself by looking forward to the upcoming Valentine’s Day decorating season (Yes, it sure is a season to me).
with Sticky Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls & Eggnog Frosting and Gingerbread Man Shaped Granola. After Christmas, I wanted to do some fun breakfast. Question #1 was: How to combine my favorite Christmas items pumpkin, cinnamon and eggnog to something yummy? I decided to slightly change the recipe for cinnamon rolls from my book. Instead of adding potatoes, I used pumpkin mash. For the filling, I added pumpkin spice and one cup of eggnog to the original cream cheese frosting.
As granola is always a good option for breakfast, I just added one egg white to the recipe to make sure that the mixture will really glue together and stay in shape. The little guys look so cute, that I nearly did not want to bite their head or arms off! I also wrapped some up to have additional gifts for friends and neighbors. Normally I use cinnamon and some nutmeg as spice for the granola, but to give it a more winter feeling, I put in ginger and cloves in there as well.
I have have spent the last two saturdays at the sewing machine. The idea was to make christmas stockings for a couple of friend’s pets. I am convinced that every cute furry creature needs it`s own stocking where all the christmas gifts are stored. The challenge was, that the stocking matches the style of the owner. So I made a glamorous ‚Flamant‘ colored stocking for Anna’s not yet existing but highly anticipated puppy ‚Caramel‘. Gropius and Jack, two cats, got fish shape stockings. Actually Gropius is a purely white cat living in a ‚Bauhaus‘ home, but the all over printed cats on the fabric where too cute to follow the rules. I hope that Gropius doesn’t mind.
I admit it, I just love this song. So we decided to re-record it in German for this year´s Christmas video from Cute Cottage Overload.
