Farewell to Summer ?

The end of the school holidays have snuck on me yet again. I cannot help myself but thinking, that this is maybe also the end of the summer?! No more barefeet walking in flipflops, no more dresses wearing without tights below?
To hold back the transition into fall a little bit, I planned a backyard barbecue with some summer decorations, for an unforgettable summer party. Besides the cheese-filled burgers and homemade sesame buns, I made the all-time favorite carrot cake. The highlight for me was the baked cookie bunting, which turned out really cute. I pulled some thread through the holes and fixed it between some wood slats. Just to be sure to give the summer the fond farewell it deserves for maybe the last outdoor BBQ…

The Porch is the Living Room

Finally it`s summer. No complaining, just countless days of sunshine. These days, our porch literally becomes the living room. So it needs a proper ‚lighting‘. I came up with this ‚chandelier installation‘ from a piece of a tree and a vintage bunting. The only thing missing is the cake. But let´s eat healthy for just one day. Enjoy the sun.

Victoria Sponge

A traditional English Victoria Sponge is one of my favorite cake recipes. Especially when it´s summer and I am able to add fresh berries. Today I am expecting a couple of friends over, so I made 2 versions. One for eat in and one to go. Yummy.

Cheesecake on a Porch Swing

Finally I got a porch swing, well, a small one, and you can´t even sit on it but it´s cute and that´s what counts. I ordered a kids swing from the internet, painted the seat turquoise and replaced the plastic cord with a beautiful (but not so safe) hemp rope. Since I can not swing with it anyway, I added some roses and a cheesecake. But the cheesecake won´t last long on it, I promise.

Vintage Tassles and Doily Bunting on our Porch

Finally, the weather is like spring, so the front porch can also be decorated ‚accordingly‘. For the next couple of months I decided to use a curtain of tassles on our front porch that I have torn from all sorts of fabric. Took quiet some time but it was worth it. For the vintage look, I dyed them in black tea. I did the same with the doily bunting.
