PopUp Tearoom, I just love afternoon tea…

… and so does Silvia and Guido. When Silvia asked me, if I would be able to pop up our tearoom in her garden, a new idea was born and a couple of days later somewhere in Düsseldorf an afternoon tea party was held.

I went there with a car fully packed with cakes and cookies, plates, cutlery, garden tables and chairs with cushions and so on…I wanted that all guests feel welcome and at home at the lovely surrounding of Silvia’s and Guido’s garden.

I created a cake list which should cover the sweet tooth for 45 guests plus kids. Besides the freshly baked rhubarb crumble I prepared delicious scones just in time for the arrival of the friends.

Most fun I had was with preparing the stationery for this event in advance. I created a lovely placemat and napkin rings, different stickers for the cake buffet with Silvia’s and Guido’s name on it. And please look at the cookies in shape of a teabag, with personalized labelling as well. The kids just loved that stuff.

The response of the guests was overwhelming! They did like it a lot and I had to fill up the buffet again and again…it was a great experience for me and there was enough time to chat with some of the guests.

When they found out, that I have the next pop up tearoom date already set, they told me that they won’t miss that date and wanna join again. The tearoom closed late that sunday, but it was a fantastic day for everybody! Thanks to Silvia’s & Guido’s friends!

How can you pimp up the storage room?

I mean, is it even possible to turn a boring blue wood room into something cute and nice?

Storage Room Pimping

Well, first there was the window and the door…with the ornamental wood border, which I found at the fleamarket, this was a start for sure. But even more worse was the plain side of the storage room. To give it some kind of a nicer character it took me some frames, a painting, hooks, metal signs and a lot of logs and some wine boxes.

Storage Room Pimping

But now I do really like it. all this small items gave the room a real face lift and kind of have the image of allyear around fleamarket at our house. Which I find great!
Oh, dear! what will the neighbours think about that?

Is this Guerilla Knitting?

Well, I don’t really know. But at least my husband thinks it is as these things suddenly appear at our house. However what I know for sure is, that this will not be my last project regarding that matter.

Urban Knitting at our House

It all started when I found this great PomPom maker in a store in Cologne (thanks to Marius). After finishing all my inventory stock in wool during the first evening, I was overwhelmed when I hung up the pompoms at the tree on our porch.

PomPom at our House

It looked great, but still kind of empty. That’s when I thought, that also the trunk and the twigs of the tree needed some spruce up with the help from the knitting needle.
And there another idea just popped out: Wouldn’t it be kind of nice to have some crochet flowers ranking around our street number? And after days were I was busy with working on that porch project at the front door, and people were wondering what I am doing there?!, I can finally show you the first results of my guerilla knitting, or yarn bombing or knit the city, or whatever name you wanna give….

Handmade Vintage Journal

When my collegue and close friend Julia told me, that she quit her job and leaving the office soon, I was so horrified at first, after a few days it was clear, that I would need an appropriate goodbye gift for her. In other words: something handmade with a vintage look.

Vintage Journal

As we have worked together for quite some years and had visited several places together allover that period, I knew that I had to prepare a nice photo album. I chose old pictures and got them developed with an off-white little color damaged frame around. The idea was to shape them with a special „Buettenpapier“ cutter, that they would look like really old pictures. Thanks to Amazon, the cutter was delivered 2 days later already and I could start cutting the frames of the pictures.

Vintage Journal

The next step was to find a nice, old book that already had yellowed pages. It was much fun to glue in the pictures with japanese masking tape and other items, like used underground tickets, old receipts, business cards etc…

Vintage Journal

It took some time to create the cover. At the end I found nice check fabric and fixed some small buttons on top. I punched out a label tag and stamped the title on top: Journal and Memory.

The journal turned out so nice, that I was really sad to have to give it away! but I promised myself, that I wanna do that again soon. It was so much fun, to put all this items together. I hope, that you can see the outcome of the journal on the pictures as nice, as it really turned out?!

Just in time for the Christmas baking season our kitchen is ready. We think the style can be best described as a combination of cute Hello Kitty and traditional British range cooking.
