Valentine´s Day Miniature Cookie Etageres

Valentine’s week starts today with „crafty Monday“. You guessed it, this might be the first of many Valentine´s Day related posts that I am planning to do. Last week I have already finished these cute miniature cookie etageres but the things that I wanted to put on them were still missing.

I think it´s kind of boring if there are cookies on a cookie etagere. So I had to find something else that would also relate to the overall Valentine`s Day theme. I thought sweets would be nice but at first I did not knew where to find them. During a shopping weekend in London I accidentally went into a sweet store on Columbia Road which had exactly what I was looking for.

Vintage Lace Curtain

Ever since I saw this in London as store decoration at Spitalfields market, I knew I wanted to make such a vintage lace curtain for our porch door. The only problem was to get enough lace and doily pieces together. But, Thanx to my lovely colleagues Nina and Christina it did not take very long. In order to make it look vintage, I dyed every cutting or collar individually with black tea. After drying I sewed everything together. You guessed it. I love it.

I actually love it so much so, that I am already wondering how all the other windows would look like with something like this as a curtain.

Season Closing Baked Apples

This is the weekend, where even I have to admit that the Christmas season has ended. However since we still got some new snow yesterday, it´s a good time to make some baked apples, for old times sake, of course, with a little ‚christmassy‘ rum flavored filling.

New Year, New Ideas

With the new year, new ideas pop into my head. This is great, the only problem with them is that they are around Christmas. So even if it´s already mid Jan, I keep working on Christmas ideas. I have found out that the only way to stay ‚in the mood‘ and keep them coming is by still having the seasonal decoration up. My husband keeps asking when we will be removing things, but they need to stay as long as the idea book Christmas 2012 is not closed yet.
